Time is running out—with Colorado winter only a few months away, now is the perfect time to get outside and grill up some BBQ. If you are looking for some BBQ inspiration or just looking for something to do around Denver, consider attending this year's Mile High BBQ Festival. Did we mention that it is free to get in? Here's everything you need to know about this mouth-watering local event.

Who Doesn't Like BBQ?

The main event for this weekend festival is a cook-off against local BBQ Pitmasters. Participating Pitmasters will present their BBQ, made from their top-secret recipes, on stage to the judges. Creators will be talking about their unique concoctions, so if you want to learn how they found the inspiration for their outlandish creations you don't want to miss this year's festival. As promised, to enter this event is completely free. However, you'll have to pay for all the BBQ, drinks and other delicacies that will be available. If you want pure freedom to try everything, you can get an all you can eat & drink pass, called the Q Pit Pass at the Denver BBQ Festival website.

Mark your calendars! The festival will be on Friday, Sept. 17: 5:00pm—9:00pm Saturday, Sept. 18: 11:00am—8:00pm Sunday, and Sept. 19: 11:00am—6:00pm. Everything will be going down at the Empower Field at Mile High, 1701 Bryant Street in Denver. Though the event is sure to draw a huge local crowd (as it always does), don't worry about feeling crammed into the event space. Empower Field at Mile High provides outstanding, unobstructed views for 76,125 fans on five levels of seating, including 8,200 club seats and 144 luxury suites. While seating only two more fans than the original Mile High Stadium, Empower Field is more than twice as large, encompassing a total of 1.8 million square feet.
