For many Coloradans, New Year's is a time of looking towards the future and setting goals of what you want that future to look like. You've probably made New Year's resolutions in the past, like drinking more water in the coming year or meeting new people or losing weight. This year, why not center some of those resolutions towards your home? Saving money in order to make upgrades on your home is a great start.

2020 Resolutions About Your Home

Adding a new deck or renovating your kitchen is a great way to improve your quality of life and extend the life of your home, but these things cost money. A resolution for your 2020 could be to save money. You can do this by eliminating unnecessary subscriptions, spending less money on purchasing take-out, and switching to generic brands when shopping. Another resolution that could benefit you and your home is going green. Upgrading to energy efficient appliances will help, but even though they'll save you money in the long run they can be quite expensive at the onset. You can start your journey to going green more simply by turning your thermostat down a few degrees and taking up composting. Another great resolutions that you can take on is getting your home organized.

That's right, you don't have to wait until spring to pull the vacuum cleaner out of the back of the closet. Starting your year off with a clean home is not only good for your house, but it will also launch you into the new year with a better mental attitude. Your ultimate goal could be to finish those home projections that got away from you last year. Did you replace all the filters in your home? Did you finish cleaning out the gutters? What about that leak in the garage? Make a list and take one project at a time so that you don't get overwhelmed. That's the biggest reason New Year's resolutions are abandoned early on in the year. Don't be a statistic. Hunker down and put in the work in!
